E3 2021: Nintendo Direct

Expectations for Nintendo’s E3 direct were skyrocketing: Join us in finding out if there are news on Metroid, a Switch “Pro” or the Breath of the Wild sequel.

XTgamer watches Nintendo Direct

Metroid Dread

While Metroid Prime 4 was absent, Nintendo officially announced Metroid 5 titled Metroid Dread, developed by MercurySteam (Metroid: Samus Returns). This classic 2D Metroid was originally in development for Nintendo DS and is making its way to Nintendo Switch next year.

Mario Party Superstars

The party never stops at Nintendo’s: Mario Party Superstars will include 100 minigames from the N64 Mario Party games and a total of five boards which hopefully gets expanded upon soon. Just like Super Mario Party after the update, Mario Party Superstars will include support for online multiplayer when it launched on October 29th.

 

Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp

Fans of the popular turn-based strategy game Advance Wars can rejoice: Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp will be released on December 3rd for Nintendo Switch. It’s made up of remasters of the two GBA games Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising. The product page lacks currently a mention of online multiplayer, but up to 4 players will be supported locally.

WarioWare: Get It Together!

Wario returns: WarioWare: Get It Together! will feature a two-player mode for the first time in the series’ 18 year history when it launches on Nintendo Switch on September 10th.

Danganronpa Decadence

After porting Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony for mobile devices, ATLUS decided to release the entire franchise for Nintendo Switch. Danganronpa Decadence will feature all 3 mainline games as well as Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp, an expanded version of the boardgame featured in DV3. You will be able to purchase the whole collection on one cartridge or each game individually in Nintendo’s eShop. There is no release date as of now.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania

The rolling monkeys are back: Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania will include remasters of the first three games of the series. It’s scheduled to be released on October 5th for Nintendo Switch.

 

Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda

The Zelda-themed Game & Watch will be released on November 12th. The stand-alone handheld will include Zelda, Zelda II and Link’s Awakening as well as a Zelda themed clock and a Zelda II themed timer.

Life Is Strange: True Colors and Remastered Collection

Life Is Strange fans have been looking forward to Deck Nine’s upcoming Life Is Strange. True Colors. Next to PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5 and PS4 it will also be released on the same day on Nintendo Switch. If you’re not only interested in Alex’ new adventure but also in the first two games featuring Max and Chloe, you can look forward to a Nintendo Switch version of the Life Is Strange: Remastered Collection later this year. The release date for the additionall platforms remains September 30th.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Expansion Pass

The first wave of new content for owners of the Expansion Pass of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will be released on June 18th including the playable Battle-Tested Guardian, Link’s Flail and Zelda’s Master Cycle. Wave 2: Guardian of Remembrance will be released in November.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel

Nintendo revealed the first glimpse into the 2022 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel. Link looks different from the first game and his roster of abilities was seemingly upgraded. We saw him putting rocks into stasis – yes he was able to do that before – and glide through platforms. The final name of the game and a definite release date haven’t been announced.

Shin Megami Tensei V

ATLUS annouced a November 12th release date for the highly anticapated fifth entry of the Shin Megami Tensei V J-RPG franchise. Gameplay and HUD premiered, with the latter seemingly being heavily influenced by Tokyo Mirage Sessions. Don’t miss the Japanese trailer for additional gameplay footage.

Just Dance 2022

Just Dance 2022 was announced at Ubisoft Forward last Saturday. Additonal songs are included in the new trailer. The game is set for a launch on November 4th, 2021 for PS5, PS4, XSX|S, XB1, Switch and Stadia.
